To truly experience the quintessential Wisconsin Supper Club, you have to travel off the beaten path. The Stagecoach Inn is one of the best in Southeastern Wisconsin for a number of reasons: 1. Is is a destination, that is popular with diners who travel near and far. On a Saturday night it's standing room only...and worth the wait. 2. The staff are hospitable and owner Sean Shinkay makes sure you feel welcome. The interior is reminiscent of a log cabin with cozy tables and lighting. The bar is beautiful and a focal point. 3. The food. Dinners are classic here and there's plenty of food. The relish trays of a bygone era have been revived here, featuring 4 kinds of salad brought to each individual table. Meals come with courses of soup, bread, salad and finally the entree. It's all delicious. 4. The food - the main course. It's prime rib, steak and shrimp, scallops, pork tenderloin, fried chicken and fish. Perfectly prepared and presented. Delectable. 5. Service. On point. Staff are quietly and efficiently bringing food and removing plates unobtrusively, allowing you to focus on enjoying the experience. 6. Did I mention the after dinner ice cream drinks are hand blended? Yum. I've had dinner a number of times at the Stagecoach over the years, for family events, with girlfriends, or to just gather together and catch up. No matter what the reason, a meal at The Stagecoach Inn is special and something to celebrate.

Old school supper club that screams Wisconsin! Yep, they have the relish tray but sadly no salad bar shoved up against a wall. Luckily, the iceberg lettuce they serve as the salad makes up for lack of a salad bar. Speaking of walls, this place is dark and woody, just like a really supper club should be. The food you ask? Hell ya! Where in Chicago will you find prime rib or filets of this quality for the screaming deal you find here? You won't. Trust me on this one. Their Au gratin potatoes are cheesy good. Can't vouch for the wine because when you are in WI you must go with an Old Fashion or Manhattan cocktail. The servers are outgoing, knowledgable and efficent. I love places like this. I hope Stagecoach Inn never changes!

This was a really hard one to rate, Yelpers. There is so much that I love, love, love about it, but also so much that just didn't do it for my personal taste. In the end, I had to rate for me, but hope that you consider all the reasons you might love it. So, for me: I don't like seafood. Any seafood. I tried a crab cake once that was okay, but that's where my tolerance bottoms out. I like steak, but I like it well done. I stopped ordering steaks while out long ago when I noticed that most waitstaff seemed to take personal offense to my request. Being an old-school Wisconsin supper club, these two limits knocked out 95% of the menu for me. I got the fried chicken. It was good! It had the crispiest coating I've ever encountered (my guess is that it is actually broasted), which was great but also made eating it a bit tough as I wasn't going to use my hands and only had a butter knife to try to dig into it with. The problem was compounded by there being very little meat on the bone, but the upside is that it pointed to the chicken being local and farm-raised as opposed to pumped up with hormones until it resembled Schwarzenegger-like proportions. I got the au gratin potatoes for side and they were pretty delicious, though nothing fancy. Instead of the traditional relish tray most supper clubs offer, the Stagecoach brings a choice of four salads whose origins must be from the 50s - there was a Pepto-pink creamy beat salad, peas and cheese in a mayo-based dressing, a three-bean salad, and spicy corn salad that was the winner of the group. That being said, none of them made me want to dig in past a bite or two. So - am I plotting my return trip? No. I still think you should give it a chance, though, if a traditional menu appeals to you. What did I like about the Stagecoach? First, if you blindfolded me, put me on a couple of planes, drove me around for awhile, and then took of my blindfold inside I'd have no doubts I was in Wisconsin. The supper club will always live on here, and I love that we keep its tradition alive. The staff are all friendly, and I loved that the bartender knew nearly every patron at the bar. In true supper club fashion, there was a wait for a table and we were encouraged to enjoy a drink or two while we waited. The bartenders addressed people by name, and often just had their drink ready to go without an order. The Stagecoach was packed, and the family I went with told me that there are several patrons who eat there literally every day. While the menu isn't for me, a lot of people seem to love it. If I lived nearby, I'd probably make it a pretty regular stop as a watering hole. Unrelated to the food or service, the restaurant gets bonus points for the sign out front being cute as a button. So, while it was a three-star night for me, the idea of the Stagecoach gets five.

Just had a great dinner with my wife, daughter, and two of my grandchildren. Sean was great interacting with the grandkids. The service was great as always as was the food.

I do NOT understand all the 4 and 5 star ratings. Really? I don't get it. The waitress was very nice. There was no relish tray, other tables had them. We did not. The rolls are not homemade, barely even warmed up. The steaks were undercooked and bland. Watch a cooking show... SALT, SEASON... these steaks had none. Bland, bland, bland. My husbands steak was raw, not rare, certainly not the med rare we ordered, but raw. The salad was nothing more than what you buy at Wal-Mart and pour out of a bag. Throw a tablespoon of dressing right in the middle, call it good. The au gratin potatoes everyone seems to rave about, I tried them based on Yelp postings. Yeah, no. They were nothing more than the box mix with a slice of prepackaged wrapped cheese thrown over the top. If I Betty Crocker box potatoes and a slice of Kraft American, I can stay home and do that. I don't expect to pay almost $40 for it. The atmosphere was actually pretty. The bar looked very nice. The dining room was small but it was comfortable. I doubt I'll ever go back. I know I would never suggest to someone to go there. I did text a friend that eats out very often, lives somewhat nearby, she said she feels the same way but sadly for me she didn't answer my text until we were almost done with dinner. Had she given me her opinion prior to going there, I would have driven past. I suggest others do the same as well.

Service was amazing as we were greeted by "Norman the Doorman" (likely the owner) and waited on by kind and friendly wait staff. Food was tasty and they offer a good selection.

Retro in a good way Go here if you want an old fashioned supper club experience with good food. The relish tray is a blast from the past. Reports are it went great with the brandy old fashioned. Ok the salad is ice berg and the vinaigrette is from a bottle but the steaks (I had a perfectly prepared tenderloin medallion) were great and well priced. No veggies beyond salad which was a bit odd but selection of potatoes and the side mushrooms were just fine. A slice of American cheese on the au gratins made a statement and I haven't seen those faux bamboo weave salad dishes in many years but it all seems to work. The fish "fry" is a real deal. No way are they making money on the broiled cod - huge portion. The staff is great. The manager could not be nicer and every waitress we have had has been beyond competent handling our large party with ease. The wine selection is heavy on well-priced cabs, so go here for a nice steak with a good cab in a friendly atmosphere at a fair price.

We come here almost every time we're home to Wisco. It's a classic supper club with great cocktails from friendly bartenders, a relish tray at the table and great steaks. The service is always great and the food is always solid. I had prime rib (Saturday night special) for the first time and was pleasantly surprised.

So...Stagecoach Inn was a great spot for a family dinner in Wisconsin. I hadn't been to a supper club in a while and we figured...why not?! Only 4 reviews, but they were all good, so we decided to try it. The place was very crowded, which is always a good sign. Our waitress was welcoming (even to us non-locals...). The food quantity - OMG - huge portions. The relish platter was delicious (we don't really get these options at home). Everything I tried was good, though the quantities, for me, were way too large. I wish I would have known, so that I could have shared an entree. So, good food, good service, a fun atmosphere and a nice place to have dinner. Definitely worth a visit.

What I first noticed about this place when I walked in was that the atmosphere was small and cozy. The log cabin-like walls look new and are very Wisconsinesque. The crowd is generally middle-aged to older. The staff are very professional and friendly--especially the bartenders (who hand-mix the ice cream drinks) and the owner (ask to see a picture of his dog). They really seem to take an interest in their customers. We had to wait awhile at the bar for a table to open up, though the service is fairly prompt. I ordered the French Friend Lobster which was deep fried lobster chunks. A salad and choice of potato came with it. The salad was standard and the lobster was great (melted butter to dip included). I got au gratin potatoes, which were good, except that there was half of a slice of American cheese on top...that was odd because the place is kind of classy. I was with my parents and they both enjoyed their meals--walleye and a steak. And, just because I always want to know, the coleslaw was creamy and not too vinegary. Expect to spend between 10-30 for your meal...the menu is meat and seafood meals...I don't believe there are pastas or salads (besides side salads) but I'm not positive. It's a small restaurant and stays busy...reservations can only be made for parties of 5 or larger. I would surely recommend this place to a friend and hope to go back myself. P.S. They open @ 4:15 on Fri and Sat

Yeah, I'm dating myself ... but I've been eating here for more than 50 years, since back in the days when a guy named John Krizan started it. There have been a few owners over that time but they've consistently offered great food, nice service, a friendly atmosphere, and at reasonable prices. Now if that's not 5 stars - what is? I don't live in the area anymore but when I get the chance this is always at the top of my list ... and it has never disappointed.

This is a Wisconsin supper club at its finest. Meals start with the rolls and variety of bean and pasta salads. (Not a huge lover of that but classic supper club.) I had the perch fish fry which was very good and lots of food. Atmosphere inside is great. A bit deceptive from the outside as it appears run down with a sign that barely works. But inside is a quaint log cabin feel. Wait staff is very kind and helpful.

Did you know that some restaurants are closed on Sunday nights near Janesville, WI? We wanted a more upscale restaurant than a chain, but quickly found out there aren't a lot of options in that area. We had our choices narrowed down to three, and we chose the Stagecoach Inn. That turned out to be wise. We drove for 11 miles, wondering what it would be like...we had discussed not going in if it looked uninviting. Much to our surprise, it looked nice....AND, the parking lot was full, always a good sign. Inside, it was a cozy, woody, rustic restaurant with a large bar. We ordered an assortment of dinners. The prices were reasonable and there were some extras - like a relish tower....beets, macaroni salad, bean salad, corn salad. Very nice touch. The dinners came with bread and salad(don't know why, but my lettuce was limp, though acceptable). One of us had onion soup, which was good. The portions are large. The mushrooms fresh. The drinks were great. This is a must try destination. You will get a filling meal - comfort food, pleasant service, and value for your money. We will return the next time we are in the area. Even though I can't give it a 5, based on all the restaurants I've been to, I am very sure that it is a 5 in the area. Nice restaurant with good food and friendly staff!

OK, not giving out too many 5 stars here, but this place is great. It's definitely in the supper club category. Everything we have had here has been great, from steaks to clam strips. Come hungry, cuz they give you a lot of food. The place is packed on weekends so plan on spending a little time in the bar where they even now how to make those cocktails that your parents used to drink!!
